XSF Interview

January 12, 2010

We catch up with Thizz representer XSF.

How did you first start rapping?

I did my research on old school hip-hop in high school, and that did it. I had been listening to what was coming out at that time, and felt like what was going on then was way doper than what was coming out. Not to say today’s artists cant rap, but I’m into that lyrical shit like Rakim, KRS-One, etc. That lead me to freestyling at school and whenever possible, writing raps and songs, honing my craft for the right time. After school was over, my friend Remy called me and said his brother Taz makes music, and wanted to hear me spit over the phone. After I was done, he came thru and picked me up to go to a studio in San Jose, where I laid the first three songs I’ve ever recorded.

Who were your main influences when you were first starting doing music?

Bone Thugs~N~Harmony, 2Pac, Nas, Jay-Z, X-Raided, A Tribe Called Quest, Rakim, Wu Tang Clan, and pretty much all the Bay Area Artists that were doing it big at the time.

Who do you listen to, and who do you respect in the rap game today?

Rakim, 2Pac, A Tribe Called Quest, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Mos Def, TI, Talib Kweli, Tech N9ne, Jeezy, Yukmouth, Fabolous, The Outlawz, UGK, Jadakiss, Method Man, Red Man, Busta Rhymes,  Raekwon, Ghostface Killah,  AZ, Big Pun, Big L, Masta Ace, Black Thought, Common, Lauren Hill, GZA Andre 3000, Slick Rick Ice Cube, Scarface, Chuck-D, Kool G Rap… There’s more, but that’s a good start.

What projects have you had out in the past?

My group, The Dragons, have put out 2 projects ourselves: Rapademics 101, which is our debut album. And Smokehouse Chronicles Volume 1, which is a Demolition Men Mixtape.

Which would you say has been the best received, and where can we cop it from?

I would say this recent mix tape: Smokehouse Chronicles Volume 1 is better received, only because our evolution as artists and musicians shows, the production and features are also a huge step up from our previous effort. You can find it on iTunes or amazon.com and very soon in stores around the Bay Area.

What are you working on now?

Personally, I’m working on a solo album. As the Dragons, we are working on The Backdraft, which will be our 2nd album.

If you could work with anybody in the game, who would it be and why?

I wanna sit down in the studio with the guy who mixes and masters the hit records. I’m not sure who, but somebody is twisting knobs and using plug-ins to make everything sound right.

Where can we get at you on the net?

I’m on myspace/therealxsf and twitter/therealxsf Myspace has videos and music, but Twitter is where u would go to get at me.

Where would you like to be in Five years?

Somewhere where the water is clear and the sand is white.

Do you have any shout outs, or last words?

I just wanna shoutout everyone that has kept it 100 with The Dragons, everyone that has shown love and support. There are too many to name, but they know who they are. Thizz is the Nation!

Ca$h Crop Interview

September 12, 2009

The scene over in Cali is buzzing right now! We caught up with Thizz Latin artist ca$h Crop to talk about how he got into the game, his album releases, how he hooked up with Thizz and much more!

Ca$h Crop, tell us about the West Coast scene from an insiders point of view!

The west coast scene has a lot of independent artists out here who are doing it big and taking advantage of the diverse culture that the Bay Area offers.

How did you pick up the mic and why did you get involved in the game?

I picked up the mic when I was seven, my mom had bought me a kararoke machine which was a way for me to express myself. I have definitely been blessed with a gift, but never mind that, haha. I had a lot of my peers talking about me making an album which inspired me to take my career to the next level, and ever since then I haven’t looked back.

You’re involved with Thizz Latin aren’t you? Tell us about how that situation happened!

Yes I am currently involved with Thizz Latin and it’s an honour to be apart of such a successful movement. During the realese of my second album, Out Here Grinden I was fortunate enough to network with Goldtoes who is the CEO of Thizz Latin. The big homie hit me up and said he liked my music and offered me distribution.

Was Mac Dre a great inspiration for you? What’s it like being part of his legacy?

Mac Dre was a huge inspiration not just to me but to the whole Bay Area. He was a pioneer through creating one of the most successful movements ever. It was a blessing to be able to witness history.

You’ve just got a new album out this year, tell us about that!

The new album is called Out Here Grinden which features a lot of vets from the Northern Cali rap game. This project was intended to give everybody in the camp a chance to get on wax.

Have you had other projects out before that?

Yeah my first album which was called The Harvest was a project that took me almost a year to complete. A lot of hard work was put into this project. You can purchase The Harvest through Itunes. Go cop em both.

What are you working on at the moment?

Currently I’ve been working on my third solo album. This album is going to be HOT. I have also been networking around the Bay Area trying to lock down some spots for shows as well as connect with djs for radio play.

Where do you want to be in a years time?

I would like to be at a point were I am financially stable, with the recent decline in music sales due to pirating I hope my fans will support my music by paying for it so I can continue to make dope hits.

Where can people get in touch with you online?

You can reach me at www.myspace.com/bteedrc or you can email our company at Pistolgripproductionsllc@yahoo.com

Do you have any shout outs or last words?

Thank you to all my fans, keep supporting good music! I also want to thank the team, J-L and Feddy Hustly thank you guys for all your hard work. Finally I would like to thank The Heaviest Interviews for this opportunity to connect and network overseas. Much Luv! – CA$H CROP
